Greystones Community College’s Ethan Bramhill secures National Silver Medal at All-Ireland Schools Cross Country
Greystones Community College is celebrating an outstanding achievement as Ethan Bramhill secured second place at the All-Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships in Galway. Competing in the Junior Boys 3,500m race at Ballybrit Racecourse, Ethan delivered a breathtaking performance, battling for the top spot throughout the entire race.
From the starting gun, it was a fierce contest between first and second place, with Ethan pushing himself to the limit in an unforgettable display of grit and determination with Darragh Whelan from Castletroy College, Limerick. He ran his heart out, crossing the line in silver-medal position and cementing his place among Ireland’s top young distance runners.
As a result of his phenomenal performance, Ethan has earned an Irish cap and will now represent the Irish Schools International team in two weeks' time at a prestigious competition in Scotland.
Speaking after his race, Ethan said "It was an incredible race, very tough from start to finish. I gave it everything I had, and I’m so proud to come away with second place for GCC. Now, getting the chance to wear the Irish vest and compete internationally is just a dream come true".
Greystones Community College athletics coaches Dara Broe and Deputy Principal Maria Lynch were in Galway to support Ethan. "Ethan’s performance was nothing short of extraordinary. He showed incredible heart and determination, and now he’s being rewarded with an Irish cap. We couldn’t be prouder, and we can’t wait to see him represent Ireland in Scotland" concluded Ms. Lynch.
