Short Course Title: Digital Media Literacy

Course Content:

The Digital Media Literacy course is divided into four strands:

  1. My digital world

In this strand, students explore how and why to use digital technologies and develop and understanding of online safety.

  1. Following my interests

Students explore how digital texts are published and their various purposes

  1. Checking the facts

Students explore the notion of bias and influence online

  1. Publishing myself

Students learn their rights and responsibilities when publishing information online

Who would this short course suit?

Given the digital world which we live in, Digital Media Literacy is relevant to all young people in learning about managing themselves and their information online.

How is this short course assessed? Students will complete a Classroom Based Assessment for Digital Media Literacy from which they will be awarded a Grade Descriptor for their Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement. There is no written exam.
